Similarly, 347 people were moved to safe areas due to rising rivers, and the flooding has affected several communities.

Following the storm, four departments in Honduras remain on red alert (immediate evacuation), five on yellow alert (preventive evacuation), and five on green alert (preventive).

The red alert affects three departments in the west of the country, bordering El Salvador; three departments on green and yellow alerts border Nicaragua, while three on preventive alert border Guatemala.

According to Honduran authorities, it is expected that the weather conditions will continue to be unstable and could even worsen in the coming hours.

Honduras is one of the Central American countries most vulnerable to natural disasters. Its location in the Atlantic exposes it to tropical storms and hurricanes from the Caribbean.

In addition, widespread poverty limits the country’s response and recovery capacity. According to Human Rights Watch, in 2023, 64% of the Honduran population lived below the poverty line.
